How to keep posting relevant content

Emil Lykke GrannEmil Lykke Grann

A while back I was very active on LinkedIn. I posted about my Startups (yes, plural), and got a lot of good comments, feedback, and traction. I had fun and I was making fun stuff. It was almost like every week I had made something new that was actually relevant to share with other people.

Then something changed. Suddenly I did not have a new startup to share with people. So I shifted my posts to revolve around some of my already existing startups. And oh boy did my reach plummet. It was a disaster.

What I figured was that people felt that most of my content had become promo stuff for my startup (which it was). And when I realized this I thought to myself: "Why post anything if it does not have any relevance for my audience?". On top of this, I also myself do not like it when the only thing people are posting about is promotional stuff about their own products. Everything combined resulted in me stopping the posts.

As of writing this, it is 3 months since I posted last time. All because I simply do not want to post irrelevant stuff. And to make sure I do not post irrelevant stuff I have thought a lot about what I deem irrelevant.

Here is my list of things that I do NOT want to do:

  1. Post about minor features or updates that don't provide real value to my audience
  2. Post just for the sake of maintaining a posting schedule or staying "active"
  3. Jump on trending topics or AI-generated content that lacks authenticity or original insight
  4. Share something I'm not genuinely excited or passionate about

After having come up with this list, I have yet to post on LinkedIn again. Maybe you will be the first to see my new post?
